Brandon Porter
CPA

Financial Advisor

LAFAYETTE

After graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2006, Brandon Porter joined our sister company, Darnall Sikes & Frederick CPAs, the following year. Earning his CPA license in 2011 and continuing his accounting work for nine years, he gained extensive experience in non-profit, corporate, partnership and individual taxation, as well as multi-state tax compliance.

In 2020, Brandon broadened his education to serve his clients in the additional capacity as a Financial Advisor. He’s looking forward to working with clients in this way and being able to provide impact on a broader level. “In a financial advisory role,” he notes, “we’re able to provide a wide range of solutions and services and, in the process, address the client’s needs and concerns in a truly holistic way.”

One of the things that appeals most to Brandon about financial planning is its forward-looking orientation. Where tax preparation is generally focused on financial matters of the preceding year, he observes, financial planning is focused in the other direction. “When we start working with clients, we’re beginning with an essentially blank slate. Once we get to understand the client’s hopes and dreams, we help them create and implement a plan that is entirely theirs.”

I know from my own experience, and from the experiences of friends, that money can be a very emotional and stressful topic. The more I can help our clients plan and prepare for the future, the more peace of mind they’ll have going forward — and that’s very gratifying to me. – Brandon Porter
